PSA: they make sippy cup straw cleaners now

I was going to buy the $6.99 Dr Brown's brushes (that I always use to clean the sippy cup straws), and then was looking around a bit too. In the section with the sippy cups, they had some straw cleaner brushes - same idea as the Dr Brown's ones, but marketed to clean straws, and only $1.99 for a two pack.

Here they are on the BRU website.

  • How is that not the same thing as pipe cleaners? That what we used. You can get a bag of 100 for, like 2 bucks.

it totally is just like pipe cleaners. I would have NEVER thought of using that and would have just spent the $2 on the BRU item.  Thanks for the tip!

    1) marketing

    and

    2) pipe cleaners kind of pill off. I get little blobs of red (or whatever color) when i've used them. which probably isn't a huge deal, but i can use the same bottle brush over & over without that happening.

  • Wait,so these don't have stronger bristles than pipe cleaners? The pipe cleaners haven't been cutting it at all.

  • Similarly, I got this OXO brush set & love that it has the long skinny brush for straws & a shorter wider one that is perfect for sippy spouts. Oh & it has a pick (sp?) that is good for the tiny holes in the sippy spout itself.

It was a little bit more expensive though.

yes they have stronger bristles than pipe cleaners. :)

  • We've used the Dr. browns ones and currently have this brush. We wanted something that would be consistently reusable unlike q tips or pipe cleaners, did the job without leaving behind any dyes, residue, fuzz, etc., and was durable enough to throw in the dishwasher regularly. These fit the bill.

  • if u get pipe clears from a hardware or home improvement store and no craft ones there should be no issues with fuzz, dye etc
