It is still so weird saying those words ...
I will preface this by saying that he is SO LUCKY as everything was caught really early and he has no brain or heart damage. The final outcome is that he needs to be on blood pressure medication as severe hypertension was the cause of the stroke. He will be able to go home from the hospital and will leave with very little lasting damage.
Let this be a lesson to everyone ... go to your doctor regularly. Get checked. Make sure your parents do the same.
My Dad is what I'd consider a healthy 62. He's the last person I'd expect this to happen to.
Also - if you're a heavy sleeper and you don't have a house phone, a word of advice: Don't sleep with your cell phone on vibrate (like I did) so that when you wake up in the morning you have 22 missed calls from your family trying to let you know that your dad went to the hospital in the middle of the night!!!

Wow sorry to hear but glad he was lucky. Yea i think about that now and always leave my phone on loud at night. Also get him a home blood pressure monitor, they are not that expensive. It will help him monitor and take control and give you peace of mind if he uses it!!

wow. I'm so glad he's OK... strokes, obviously, can be so bad. They are often the thing that, when a doc mentions it's something that could happen, actually gets people to take care of tehir health, b/c a stroke seems more scary to patients than a heart attack.... bc of how it can change your life.
I sell a drug for hypertension- so hearing this kind of thing (that he's OK) is so good to hear... and reminds me that the job i'm doing can save lives, which is nice. (my product has better blood pressure lowering data than any of it's type... i'm not trying to sell it to you... just mention it b/c that's why I feel like what I do helps, lol).
Prayers for him- that he can get his bp under control and this won't happen again.
