Do you remember using this for "I love you" back in the beeper days?

I just txted it to MH & couldn't help but laugh, and now I'm trying to think of all the weird number codes we'd use back then.

ha, u beat me to it, lol

  • you number +911 or 411

speaking of beepers... what did we do when someone would beep us?  Did we stop at a phone booth and make a call?  I really can't remember... I guess we had to carry quarters?

  • Yeah back when the mall had payphones, lol, I remember using them to call back. Or when MH would page me at work, I'd call him from the work phone.

  • I remember calling my mom on a payphone, but calling collect.... right when the recording said "please say your name"  I would say whatever message I needed to say... so when my mom or whoever I was calling would pick up the phone, they would hear "you have a collect call from... it's me, I'll be home in about an hour", this way she wouldn't have to accept the collect call, but would still get whatever message I needed to give her... yes ghettoness at its best!

  • I had a pager but no boyfriend. So no 143 for me. I just know it from Stern and Sal's wife's "emotional friend".

me too- for us it'd be "Pick me up at the lake" or "pick us up at the movies" lol

  • and i never had a pager. my parents were such a-holes.  (SARCASM!)
  • I went on a few dates with a guy in his 20's when I was in High school and he gave me his beeper number but it went to a customer service person who typed up whatever I wanted to say and then somehow it got delivered to him. I guess sort of like a text message. But this was before everyone had a phone.

  • Lol I remember those.  I had one for a minute, as I was in between beepers and cell phones.  Most people I knew didn't have either till maybe my senior year.  It was all IMs for us.

  • I had a pager probably before some of you were born...but never knew "codes".

Frank and I still occasionally use 143 :)

Gabbs OMG my bf had this when I was 18. It was SO EMBARRASSING if you wanted to say I LOVE YOU you had to call some doofus and tell THEM and they'd write it out and send it. Technology was so ghetto back then lol.
