Warrior Dash anyone?

Anybody here who's done one and wants to brag?

Anyone here who wants to do one with me? There's one almost 2 hours away in southern MD - you can do it either May 19 or May 20.

Since I have to hold off on TTC for another month or two anyway, I'm trying to squeeze in all the "no pain no gain" I can. I know I can jog a 5K no problem, and I think I can handle the obstacles by May if I keep up the Crossfit I started 3 weeks ago. Training for this would be excellent motivation, and you earn a fuzzy warrior hat too!

Re: Warrior Dash anyone?

  • DH is dying to do this!
  • DH did a couple Muddy Buddy races (same type feel) and loved them.

The only thing that scares me is I have no idea if I can actually do some of those scale a wall type things and it looks like if you don't complete every obstacle you are eliminated. I just wish I knew how hard they actually are.

  • I can ask my son - he did the Mudder near Charlotteville, I think, late last year. You know I can't run, much less scale a wall.

(I wouldn't survive The Hunger Games.)

    Pam and John
    "What is a week-end?"
  • My good friend did one last year and had a lot of fun, but decided afterwards that 45 was too old to be doing that kind of stuff. She runs a lot, but it took her a long time to recover from the physicality of this.

But, if you are looking to fit in all the "no pain, no gain" you can, sounds like it would be great fit!

The FAQs say: "You're expected to complete all obstacles. If you're unable to complete an obstacle you may bypass the obstacle and receive your finisher medal, although you'll be disqualified from all awards."

Ain't no way I'm winning an award so this doesn't scare me off. Smile

DUDE! Apparently I never quite got the knack of reading comprehension. I'm a big fan of the "Completer not Competer" motto so yeah, award medals never really figure into races for me.

I really need motivation to pick back up my running and I think I could eek out the obstacles with training. Lemme check my travel schedule to see if I'm in state those dates. I think I've still got your email.

Awesome that you're even considering it! And just know that I am s-l-o-w (like 12 or 13-minute-miles slow) so you may end up whupping my butt!

  • I reserved my slot for the 19th at 1pm before realizing it was the same day as a friend's baby shower.  So if anyone wants to buy my ticket, I'd super appreciate it :)  mrsintrainingblog@gmail.com.

Jealous of anyone that does it, I was really excited about it :(

  • It sounds like fun, but I'd be worried that I'd seriously injure myself. I'm kind of a klutz!
AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers
  • I did Warrior Dash last year and it was fun!  I also did Spartan which was much more intense.  Both are a great time.  Have fun!
  • I am putting this on my list of goals for next year (no way I would be ready this year).
