Dear Community,

Our tech team has launched updates to The Nest today. As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. Cooking/baking with a convection oven

I just had a new convectionoven delivered yesterday. I know it is good for baking, but if you have one, do you use it for cooking as well? I have a chicken parm that I am going to put in, is there any benefit to setting the oven to convection versus regular?

Also, it is typical that the fan alternates between running and not running, correct? I have cookies in the oven now, and I know that the temperature automatically adjusts (recipe is 325 but it adjusted to 300) and the fan is going on and off.

  • I find that things get cooked a little quicker, and get a little browner with the convection setting. Honestly, don't think it makes too much of a difference.

    There was a post about them a while back I'll see if I can find it. And yes the fan will go on and off through out the cook time.

  • I actually never bake with mine, I only cook with it.  I set it on the temperature it's supposed to be on and my oven says it cooks 1/3 of the time faster....usually it's more around 1/4 of the time faster, but for longer cooking times it's amazing!

  • I make everything with mine. It will definitely cook things a few minutes faster. I liked it because the fan also makes the oven preheat faster. I have the fan run with everything I cook except pies and pizzas.
