Crampy foot question

Lately during my C25K adventures and afterwards my foot (left one generally, but occasionally the right) will cramp up. My toes either shoot off in crazy directions or clamp up on top of each other. (My husband refers to it as 'peace toe' because sometimes it looks like my toes are trying to give the peace sign.)

I have to walk it off during workouts, and when it happens when I'm at home (sitting on the couch, in bed, etc.) I either have to squeeze it or stand on it for it to go away. Takes a few minutes sometimes.

From what I've read it's related to dehydration, but I'm crazy hydrated lately. I work out in the afternoons after work, so by then I've downed more than 60-70oz. And I hydrate while working out.

I got fitted for my running shoes. I don't wear heels (generally flats).

Any thoughts/tips?

I've heard the water thing, but I drink a lot of water as well. The only other suggestions I've heard are potassium (bananas, for example) and Gatorade - apparently the electrolytes can help.

I get those, but they're not "uncomfortable", they're crazy unbelievably painful.  All I've heard is water, potassium, and electrolytes too.

Me too. Not fun AT ALL. Sorry, I have no suggestions. Mine seem to come and go in spurts - I'll get them for several days in a row and then they'll go away for awhile. I have no idea what causes them or helps them. But I feel your pain.

Yep. All of this. Sometimes they're uncomfortable, mostly when I'm working out and just immediately push through. But when I'm resting they're very painful and last longer.

Bananas and Gatorade, I guess. Though I'm watching sugar, so that's tricksy.
