Nursing moms

My son is a piggy and will usually eat anytime he's offered lol. Yesterday and today he seems uninterested! He's eating but he cries when it's time to latch and his nursing sessions are shorter/less frequent. He's still good with wet/dirty diapers... is he just less hungry? Do babies have less hungry days? Landon never had days he was less hungry until now so I wasn't sure... sorry if that sounds dumb.

He also seems to be getting his bottom teeth- could that be it?

Re: Nursing moms

  • Could be teething, coming down with something or just getting more efficient.  As long as making wet diapers, I wouldn't worry.

  • It could definitely be the teeth and/or just a less hungry day. Scarlett seemed to have less hungry days when nursing which stressed me out, but she totally goes through days of less eating now too, and I can finally, clearly see that when she's not hungry she just won't eat.

  • We just went thru that this week! Today he finally was eating normal again. It lasted like 3-4 days and was so bad i was feeding on one side and pumping on the other so i didn't get engorged. He went thru this about a month ago too.

  • We're having the same issue right now. I have been thinking she prefers the bottle. I'm sorry I'm no help, but wanted to see what the others say. :)

  • Around that time, DD started going longer between feedings.  When I tried to nurse her on her regular schedule she would flip out and it took a while before I realized that she just wasn't hungry.  At 3 months she was going about 3 hours between feedings and then at 4 months it was about 4 hours between feedings.  Hope this helps!

I think this is a lot of it - some days D gives me 4 hour stretches and today i got a couple of them. maybe thats why he ate better today.

This...DS used to take forever to eat, then all the sudden he ate much faster and he feedings were much shorter.  No need for concern as long as you have wet and dirty diapers.

  • Before I read your last line I was going to say that my daughter lightens up on nursing when teething.  That could be it.

On a side note (totally unrelated) I made that london broil crockpot recipe in your blog... SO good, thanks!
