Heartworms

Hank had heartworms when we found him three years ago. He was treated, tested negative after the treatment was complete, and has been on heartguard ever since. Well Sunday he just started not acting right. Wouldn't jump up on the couch or bed like normal, isn't running everywhere like he normally does, he shivers, and just isn't his normal self. Sunday and Monday, when we picked him up, sometimes he would yelp. We've touched and squeezed the areas we thought we had touched when he yelped and got nothing out of him. He gets in our labs kennel, which he never does. He is eating normal. He's always been a little fineky (sp?) and will kind of pick at his food. Tonight he started a hacking cough. We are taking him to the vet in the morning.

I was reading a few signs of heartworms (we had him like 2 days before we found out he had heartworms before, so we never noticed and symptoms). Y'all think maybe its heartworms again?  Help! I dont know what could be wrong with my baby!

Re: Heartworms

  • It's a good idea to take him to a vet -- he's not himself and he's developing some sort of issue with his health.

Wishing you luck. Let us know what happens.
