Time's running out, folks!
Hey, guess what I did this weekend? I watched all of the short films nominated for Best Animated short. You know who does that? Someone who's about to kickass in an Oscar pool. ![]()
Trash-talking aside, this pool is a fun way to watch the Oscars as it automatically updates your score based on the results as they happen. Feel free to post the link on other boards - the more the merrier!
And if you haven't made your final picks, make sure you get them in before the show starts. You currently have 3 days, 20 hours, and 35 minutes... ![]()
Good luck - winner gets bragging rights for the rest of the year!

Here are the instructions, but it should be pretty clear:
When you click the link, it will ask you to log in or to create a user id/password and give an email address. You can give a fake email address, but make sure you remember your user id/password because you won't be able to retrieve your info/edit your picks with a fake email if you forget it. This is the same site we used last year, so if you remember your username/password from last year, you're all set.
Once you get your account set up, it will take you to our Oscar poll.
The title of our pool is "The Official Nest Oscar 2012 Pool" and the password is "Nestie". (This should be already filled out for you.) It's a private pool, meaning that people need to have the password to join*.
For the Selection Name field make sure your Nest name is in it somewhere so we know who you are. Click the Join Pool button on the bottom and you're in!
Look on the navigation bar on the left hand side of the screen. Click on the "Picks" button and make your bets! The categories are weighted (the big categories like Best Picture and Best Actor are weighted more which should make things more interesting) and make sure you answer the tiebreaker question at the bottom.
Hit submit and you're done!
You can edit your picks up until the show airs.
Re: 2012 Oscar Pool - Get those picks in!!! :)
LOL! You are gonna kick butt for real.
I may make some changes since I've seen more of the films since I first made my guesses. Thanks for the reminder.

I haven't seen that many of the nominated movies, either. (saw Hugo, The Help, Moneyball, Midnight in Paris, attempted Tree of Life)
There are a lot of up-in-the-air categories this time, way more than last year it seems. Actor and Actress are really hard, as are the "short" categories. I changed two at the last minute and hope it wasn't the wrong move.
If I hadn't picked the winners for this Oscar pool, I don't know if I would even want to watch. I may sleep for an hour and a half in the middle during the "dead zone" where a bunch of the categories are boring.

Insomninac, regarding the shorts, I've noticed for the one-point categories this year the consensus is all over the place. It seems like there's a different favorite each time I look. They're the only races where 3 different films are mentioned in predictions. (I changed two of mine at the last minute and hope it doesn't bite me...)
Sigh. I had a hard time voting for what I wanted to win vs. what I thought might win. I just saw The Artist today and still liked The Descendants better, so that was tough. I ended up going with a mixture of what I liked vs. what's getting the most buzz.
Good luck to everyone!
I am not really that excited about the show. This is so bad---I am tempted to go to bed early tomorrow night, get up and check the pool results around midnight, then speed through the show and watch the highlights for an hour after school Mon.
I am only confident about two or three of the categories. Aside from Supporting Actor, Actress, and Animated, there are very few that are clear-cut... I feel like the technical categories could go several different ways. *sigh* Why do I do this to myself? It's so dumb that I care.
ETA: oops, yeah, Picture and Director are clear-cut, too.
