Clicky Poll - Who's out there KY?

Just curious to see who our KY nesties are since this board is silent.  It looks like lots of ppl are reading even though no one is posting.  It would be cool to get things going... please participate and feel free to comment a little something about yourself or whatever you feel so inclined to post.

  • Hello!!

I was married in Sept of 2009, so I guess I am no longer a newlywed. We live in Georgetown and have one furbaby, a 12 week old Jack Russell

  • Hi, thanks for entertaining me!  I just got married in 2011 and we have a furry kid too.  A pitty mix of some kind, Zoey.
  • Hello!

I'm from western KY and live in the Lexington area now.  My H and I got married in summer of 2010 (I guess we're no longer newlyweds either!).  We're in our mid-20s, happily child-free for now, and don't have any pets.  I love traveling, photography, and the outdoors.

Some of us tried to get this board moving last year, but it never really picked up.  It would be nice to meet some more KY nesties!

  • I agree!  I am new to KY so it would be great to get some insight from other nesties on things to do, etc.  Plus I feel like the midwest mentality is pretty different than a lot of other areas on many things.

I actually got my degree in Fine Art Photography.  What kind of photography are you into?

We have a JR mix. But he's about 6 years old.

I always forget about this board, since I actually have to scroll for it. Out of sight, out of mind.

Anyway, we were married in June 2008. We live in Lexington, no human babies, just our "puppy" dog, Mister.

Maybe we can get this board moving again!  I'll try to remember to check back more often from now on.

I am a complete beginner and have only recently started to love photography by seeing others' images, talking to photographers, and playing around with cameras, so I don't really have any experience or feel drawn to one particular area yet...just a fun hobby I hope to start and learn more about.  I just ordered my first DSLR and lens (so excited!) and it should come next week.  We're going backpacking through Europe this spring so hopefully I can learn more about using the new camera before we leave for our trip.

That is awesome that you got your degree in photography!  I would love to go back to school for another degree and take some photography classes.  I've actually looked into it, but I can't seem to find a particular program I'm interested in here.

If you have any suggestions for helpful websites, tutorials, classes, etc. then I'm all ears. :)

  • Well it's not a very useful degree in the midwest in terms of being artistic, but I'm still glad I got it.  I don't know of any classes around here, but that doesn't mean there aren't any.  If you want to learn the basics of your camera just get a cheap-o photography textbook on Amazon and start playing with all the features.  There are tons of Photoshop tutorials online, just search for whatever it is you want to do.
  • hi i married in sep of 2011 we are buying a home this week and i just joined the nest :)

  • Howdy!
I don't know if anyone is still on this board, but thought I'd try a post anyway :)
We got married in May 2012 and live in Louisville, KY. Like Heather, we are in the process of buying a house, and so I just thought to check out the Nest like I used to check the Knot for info and advice!
  • Live in Paducah. Born here but have spent time in Louisville and Nashville since finishing college in St. Louis. Love Western KY!
  • I represent the Northeastern region of Kentucky.

  • We moved from Paducah to Frankfort in August.  Anyone else in the Frankfort area?
