Need help choosing a meal to make
For my cousin who just had her baby. There's a website set up where you can sign up to make a meal.. they said to keep tomato and cheese to a minimum so that rules out my Baked Ziti staple And it has to feed one child and at least four adults. TIA

Re: Need help choosing a meal to make
a wbesite...that's pretty presumtuous, no?
anywhoo...for my cousin, i made chicken pastina bake, mac & cheese, chicken pot pie, gravy, & chicken soup.
when she goes back to work next month, i am going to prep some crockpot dinners and put them in ziplocs for her to freeze. so she can pull them out and dump them...
you could also do a turkey & white bean chili.
it's called takethemameal.com. it's actually really nice, and it was set up by another family member, not herself. My cousin is recovering from a c-section and is trying to take care of her toddler as well as go back and forth to the hospital in NY where her newborn is so i think it's great that anyone can pick a day to drop off a meal to help them out.
I agree with chicken cutlets...chili is good too although it's usually tomato based.

gotcha. the turkey & whitebean chili on skinnytaste is really good. putting together crockpot meals for her freezer would probably be helpful as well!
I asked a similar question a while back and I got a lot of helpful responses: http://community.thenest.com/cs/ks/forums/63130038/ShowThread.aspx

When you make the chicken cutlets, how do you prepare them? Do you coat them in bread crumbs or flour, or do you just season and grill the chicken?
Pre-baked cutlets seem really useful because then the parents can use them on a salad or sandwich or as an entree, but every time I make breaded cutlets the breading gets really soggy when I heat up leftovers.
This is exactly what I was thinking.. seems like a great idea but mine always get soggy..
