So I've made it 11 weeks w/out spilling the beans about the pregnancy.
My originally dr appt put me at 12 wks yesterday, but when I went for my 2nd appt and dating ultrasound they actually found I was a week behind. So 12 weeks is actually next Wedneday. So I have to wait another whole week to tell.
It's killing me. 2 of my sorority sister have called me in the last few weeks to tell me they are preg, (13wks and 19wks) and I sooo wanted to scream with joy and tell them that I am too. I guess 1 more week of waiting and then sharing in it all together won't kill me... or will it!
Hearing that MollySm had Lucia was so exciting! And getting to see pics of Lawson too-I am sooo happy for the two of you! And the pics are def keeping me distracted from not getting to share my news yet.
Trying to conceal the nausea and crabbyness and belly bloat is tough. I swear I feel like everyone is thinking when they see me "is she just getting fat"? (i've put on 9 lbs in 11 weeks- I know gross... but when you go from running 7-9 miles daily and not eating much carbs at all, to being so tired you can't even tie your shoes and all I can stomach is cereal and toast-- I guess 9 lbs will find you fast. Hoping this week I will find a little more energy from the excitement of finally getting to tell people in a few days- and hit the gym to keep me going and slow this weight gain.
Our best couple friends totally think something is up. The wifey is preg (due is April) and at her baby shower I didn't enjoy in the mimosas, and I had decaf coffee-- 2 huge red flags if u know me. And when we went on our monthly dinner date to our fave restaurant I didn't have any wine, and was super picky about what I ate- They totally think somehting is up- they were like "why aren't u drinking? why aren't u eating ur usual?"-- I can't wait to tell them that they were right.
Sorry so long, I have the day off from work so I'm post-happy-
one more thing-
Anyone have any good ideas about how to tell my mom? Any one heard of unique or exciting ways that worked to let friends/family far away know too?
Re: its still a secret...
I give you a major gold star for keeping it secret!!!! Did you have an NT scan? How did it go? Wanna share your ultrasound pictures? When is your due date?
As for cute ideas... check pintrest. I just called people. Then on FB posted that Bill and I would be welcoming a 2 legged family member in January. It is so fun to go public.
You did not even tell your mom? You're good!!
A friend of mine bought her mom huge grammy panties and gave them packed in a pretty box. When her mom opened the box and looked puzzled at the huge panties my friend said: You're going to be a grammy, I thought this was a suitable gift. LOL I thought it was super cute and funny.
My Blog
OMG that's hilarious!!
Do the creep.
Way to go you for waiting this long to tell everyone! I don't think I could wait that long to tell key family members (i.e. mom, dad, in laws, bros, and sister)...friends could definitely wait to hear though!
I saw this really adorable sign on Etsy that I'm thinking about getting my parents when the time comes. It says "Good Parents get promoted to Grandparents". Or one just for my mom "The only thing better than having you as a Mom is my children having you as a Grandma". :-)
Let us know what you decide to do! I can't wait for the day to be in your same shoes! :-)
You are a pillar of strength Rae!
My H and I have plans to do the same when it's our turn...wait the 12 weeks. I just have very intuitive women in my life, and fear they will ruin the surprise! :-(
I like the idea someone had about a sweet saying that comments on becoming a grandparent...that's so touching. The calendar is a good idea too.
I myself will most likely bring everyone immediate over for a dinner or bbq (cause we always are anyhow) and then just tell them all at once. I am boring and uncreative lol.
Let us know what you choose! And don't cave! I think you'll be proud you didn't tell anyone before you wanted to.
