Help Me Kitty Proof My House!

Hello Ladies!

We were finally able to bring Kiara (Kiki) home today! Will post pictures soon.

As we've had her home for a few hours now we've realized that even though our house is clean and everything is picked up, that we need to do something else. What did you ladies do to kitty proof the house?

 TIA!

PS... I'm sure this will be one of many questions to come!! :)

Re: Help Me Kitty Proof My House!

  • Is she a kitten? If she is, I'd remove all potted plants from the floor, or anything that she could dig at. Kittens are pretty quick to litterbox train if there's no where else for them to "squat and bury".

Also, be careful of exposed electrical cords and chemicals.

Cats are pretty easy keepers. The hardest part about having cat is their claws. We had to declaw our cat, Darla, because she was ruining everything we own. She never goes outside and has nothing to defend herself against, so she's adjusted fairly well, but I don't recommend it. Just discourage scratching as early as you can and provide scratching posts and mats.

Good luck! Our cat is our baby :)

  • She isn't a kitten. She's just barely a year old. Right now she's on her pain meds that make her a little crazy, but hopefully those will ware off in a few days.

    :)

  • Aw, well congratulations on your new fur baby!
