PSA on snowblowers

When DH went in for hand surgery today, almost everybody else in the office was there because of a snowblower injury.

Apparently, after you turn off a snowblower, it is still not safe to stick your hand in there.  The mechanism gets so torqued that when the jam is cleared a ton of pressure is released.  Then parts of your hand can get chopped off.

Long story short, turn the snowblower OFF, then use a stick or rake to dislodge a jam.

Re: PSA on snowblowers

  • Oh my-what a day you've had! For once I'm actually happy we're making do with just a shovel.
  • You know, I always thought Homer was exaggerating in his Mr. Plow commercial:  "tired of having your hands cut off by snow blowers?"  Apparently not.

I'm so going to hell for laughing.

A big old middle finger to you, stupid Nest.
  • A surgical assistant I used to work with took call with a limb preservation group. The number of snowblower, power rake, cain saw, and lawn mower accidents I heard about and looked at before and after pictures of really shows me stupid some people are.
