Yesterday I posted about one of my students at my SJ high school who is currently fighting his second battle with leukemia. His sister and close friends started a Facebook and Twitter campaign asking Kevin's idol, Taylor Swift, to be his prom date. Well, three days later and to all of our wildest imaginations, almost 100,000 people have joined Kevin's facebook page in support.
Just now, Taylor Swift posted a personal response to Kevin on her Facebook page. " Kevin, I'm so sorry but I won't be able to make it to your prom. But I was wondering, the ACM Awards are coming up.. Would you be my date? Love, Taylor "
I am beyond happy for Kevin. He deserves this so much. And, I am so, so proud of my students, my community, and deeply touched by the kindness of strangers to pull together in this way. What a sweet girl Taylor is for doing this! We need more news like this in the world.

I am all choked up, that is amazing and from all the support it seems this young man is totally deserving, he has as many fans as she does. I am pulling for him, and she would be a fool not to ask him out, he is so CUTE!
that is unbelievable! This story made me cry.
Thank you for sharing this story. I had a bad day at school and needed to hear something like this. You really did restore my faith in humanity!
