The house we put an offer on tested high in radon. Would that deter you from purchasing the home? Should the sellers take care of it? How long does it take to take care of it?
Re: radon ?
The house we are buying tested high for radon as well. Did you discover this during inspection or was it disclosed by the homeowners? We discovered it during inspection and the sellers covered all costs for installing the mitigation system. It was the only thing we asked them to take care of after the inspection.
This is what we did 9 years ago when we bought our house. It's really not a big deal if you have a mitigation system installed properly. We've had the levels retested a few times over the years and they always come back normal since the mitigation system has been installed.
Not at all. Radon is a naturally occuring substance, so you'll find some measure of it in many place. A radon mitigation system will just vent the gas out of the ground, and usually through your roof.
