I know a few of the ladies on here have been before, so I am looking for opinions. We are thinking of taking a trip there for our five year anniversary, and we aren't sure where we want to stay. I know it costs more to stay on the island, and I am wondering if it is worth it to stay there, or should we just stay in Mackinaw City or St. Ignace and take the ferry over for a day? Also, if you have been, do you have recommendations for a place to stay? We don't want it to be too expensive, but we would like to take a trip as a family. Thanks ladies!

Re: Mackinac Island Question
Are you friends with Ari on facebook? If she doesn't see this here, I would ask her on FB. She seems to be quite a fan of the place.
What other places did you go? I would love to do that, and while Cara is a great baby, I want to make sure she would enjoy it all. We are planning to do a lot of bike riding around the island, and I know she will love that.

We spent one night in Traverse City and went to the Sleeping Bear Dunes before we went to Mackinaw City. In Mackinaw City we went to the Ft. one day, another day we drove up to Ste St. Marie to see the locks, we also went to Munising to see the pictured rocks. We only did the Island two days and I feel like we saw everything that was there and had plenty of time to walk around, ride bikes, etc.
