    Woooooooooo!!!!!!

I am road tripping to Boston with a friend tomorrow to eat Nutella waffles, and DH and I leave for Disney early Sunday morning. This is going to be the best weekend ever!

Enjoy! DH is currently making me pancakes, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to be disappointed in them now. I can't wait to hear about Disney!!!

Last night a friend came over for pizza, and I fell asleep on the couch while they talked about work.

Today we're going grocery shopping, and then we're babysitting my 4 year old and 6 month old neices. We're going to make cookies, and I'm going to paint my 4 year old neice's nails. Then hopefully we'll watch a movie, and then it's time for bed.

Sunday is actually escaping my mind right now.....ohh yes. We're packing up the car with baby stuff from SIL (we're staying over their house Sat. night), and then hopefully moving some stuff over from the appt. Then I have a Lia Sophia Party at 5 (seriously, on a Sunday night??!!) and I'm going to make a dip for my friend.

  • Yesterday I finished my thesis, did 4 loads of laundry, made a pot roast, and went to see Safehouse at the theatre. It's not a movie I would recommend spending the money on - it's definitely been done before.

Kicked this morning off good - had a cup of earl grey tea, edited 2 chapters of my thesis, climbed back in bed with H for a little snuggle, and made a yummy coconut milk smoothie. I'm about to edit the rest of my thesis and then email it to my friend who is going to edit it for grammar. I hope to go for a long walk with the doggies and H before the sun goes down, and then maybe having a picnic on the floor with a good movie.

Tomorrow I hope to get up and go to church early. Then I have to do the table of contents for my thesis, the dedication, abstract, keywords, etc. I also have to do a significant amount of design work for my assistantship that I keep forgetting to do.

YAYYYYYYY!!! Also, I'm super jealous of Melko's pancakes and Shazzie's trip! AND Shazzie's Nutella waffles. Damn it, now I'm hungry.

    ANYWAY -

Last night: had a meeting for the 5k I'm planning with H's family at my house. We drank too much wine to be productive, I think! At least we had fun.

Today: lounging around for a bit while H is at work, then I'm going into work for a few hours. Not sure what I'm doing after.

Tomorrow: H is working and I have to get my 6.5 mile run in. Eeeek! Which reminds me, I need to stop at the running store and get fuel of some kind since I'm starting to get serious exhaustion toward the end of my runs.

  • Nora...tell me about this 5k!! Also, I highly rec many of the gu brand gels. I loved the black raspberry/jet black, the chocolate or the Orange creamscicle. I thought the last two would be gross, but I liked them a lot.

  • Obviously I am most jealous about Shazzies Disney Trip.  I want to go back so bad!

Friday: Just bummed around the house and made H a big dinner after his STEP 2 CS exam.

Saturday: Worked, just got home from a mexican dinner out.  About to watch the PBR on TV.

Sunday: Workitywork.  Then I really need to catch up on on my library books before I head out of town on the 8th.

It's a family 5k starting at the restaurant H's cousin owns and going around Wrigley Field and back. Very low-key, not timed or anything (at least not the first year). We were in the midst of picking a charity for the proceeds to go toward when the restaurant caught on fire :( So now we're thinking we might have the race benefit the restaurant - but we'll see how H's cousin feels about it once they have a final number on the damage.

Thanks for the Gu rec! I ended up picking up a package of Honey Stinger chews, one Honey Stinger gel and a vanilla bean Gu. I used the chews yesterday and they were great! I liked that I could have as many or little as I thought I needed. I also got a handheld water bottle, which I'm really beginning to need as well. All in all, I'm pretty sure they're the reason I finished since it was WINDY AS HELL. For my 7.5 miles this weekend, I'll probably stick with the chews but bust out the Gu for my 8.5 and 9.5. in the coming weeks. OMG that sounds so scary...

That's awesome. I'm really proud of you. I really wish I was able to stick with it to get to the half marathon distance...possibly someday. Great job!

Thank you!! It's getting a lot harder the further I go (which is to be expected!), and I'm so scared I'm going to burn out/get injured and not be able to do it. Last summer I was right around this distance when I got sick and had to stop training...I'm hoping using fuel and water and resting more will get me to double-digit miles. We'll see!

The half marathon distance is so rewarding! It's just far enough that you really get to test what you're made of. You can do it!
