If you had a long, lazy morning...

To study, people watch and organize your thoughts, where would you go to do it? I am taking off next Tuesday to do nothing but have some "me time", and to get my head together a bit. We moved here just over a year ago, and pre-DS, this was my favorite thing to do on lazy day. Since I have never really done this since moving here, I have no clue where to go besides the obvious Starbucks. Any cute coffee shops I should check out? Bonus points if they have free Wifi. I live on the SE part of town, but it doesn't really matter, as I am planning a visit to H&M and the Highlands for a quick new hairdo. Anywhere will do!

  • My favorite sbux in town is at the REI store downtown. Lots of activity, cool atmosphere and central.

  • Since you will be in the highlands, common grounds on 32nd and lowell isn't bad. You could get a sandwich or treat at one of the neighboring places. I havn't been there for a few years but they used to have free wifi and comfy chairs. There is also a brazilian place on the corner of 44th and lowell that has good coffee and as far as I remember free wifi.

  • if you were up north i'd say the wright farms library since there is a cafe in it with some great tables for people watching and i believe they have wifi.  for south side, i'd probably say a sbux if youkre able to study in that kind of environment.

  • I love the Tattered Cover- downtown or Colfax have good people watching.
  • I went to Common Grounds a year and a half ish ago to meet up with a friend and really enjoyed the little (locally owned) shop.  : )

ETA:  And I'm so jealous that you get a "you" day!!!  Enjoy every second!!

  • All suggestions so far are really good, especially Common Grounds. I love that place.  I would also suggest either Kaladi Brother's (Evans and High) or Stella's Coffeehouse on Old S. Pearl. Both make amazing lattes and attract a very educated, very interesting group of people.
