Almost 2 weeks post-op & doing Great!!! No limping, sitting "proper" like a big boy (he used to sit w/his front left leg turned out to the outside a bit, to compensate for...pain? Not sure), getting up from laying down & stretching both back legs straight out, sitting & scratching his head/neck w/his left leg, peeing while on walks & lifting his right leg, so his left leg is bearing all the weight.... His hair is sllloooowwly growing back, but most of his close-shave scabs are falling off (ok, Im picking them off what? they bug me! Lol)
He seems much more comfortable now! Its crazy! ...although we feel SO bad for "letting" his pain/discomfort go on for as long as it did (even though we mentioned our concerns to the Vet monthly for about 6 months ) Anyway, we are feeling a huge sense of relief!! ...& yet crossing our fingers that things continue to go well!
We have an appt Mon to have his stitches out...except he doesn't have any! I didn't realize that when we left after surgery (too overwhelmed!) But we'll go anyways just so he can get checked out. I have questions on what we do now...as in, do we just let him go? As in, back to normal? Back to "regular" life?? Guess we'll see!
Anyway, some pics!
His incision today...sorry if thats gross to you, but it looks SO good!
Re: PIP Cooper seyz Hi! (*wypadek*)
Yay! He does look great! (loved the comfy cone pic!) The incision does look good - and didn't gross me out at all (I was a bit worried).
And on a side note - I love the red throw pillows in the background of the last pic!
Thanks! I actually think I got them at Walmart a couple years ago! Sometimes they have cute stuff!
Yay for doing so good! I'm surprised by how red his incision is to be honest, but then Ziva had fur growing over hers at two weeks post op so that could be why.... And if he doesn't have stitches did they use the dissolveable kind or did they glue him together?
He looks SO forlorn in the picture with the cone.... Although that looks way nicer than the e-collar we had for Ziva. You're a nicer mom than I am apparently!
I see your pillows end up where our pillows do.... on the back of the couch! lol
Hopefully you get clearance for life as normal for him! That would be so nice! Ziva enjoyed her very first post op walk this morning (a short one around the block with no Collins) and is doing well. So thank GOD for that!
I don't think its actually that red in person...could be the lighting & the post-processing I did....It looks fine though, its not weeping at all, so Im happy (believe me, I've been watching it!). Yeah, he must have dissolvable ones internally & then glue externally?? Im going to ask Mon...well, Im sure they're going to tell me when I show up for a stitch removal & there are none Lol
HA! Oh believe me, we learned our lesson! We had a e-collar for him after the 1st surgery, & b/c he's so big, it was huge! Like, HUGE. He'd go in his kennel, turn around & then I'd put his cone on him...& he wouldn't be able to turn his head, at all. We felt SO bad!! The Comfy Cone was worth every penny! & even though he still hates it, he hates it less than a regular e-collar.
Hahaa! DH always puts them up there! Totally annoys me! Lol! Good to know it happens at other houses too though!
I hope we do too! Oh I bet Ziva was SO happy!! We have been back to our regular walks, just a little shorter, since like, day 2. But Coop's getting pretty squirrely w/them, & the leashed potty breaks.....Aannnd just about an hr ago I went into the basement & he followed me...down the stairs...Whoops! I guess he's ready for freedom again!
OMG! That is the EXACT case of our house! It drives me batty because he bought all the pillows... why buy them if you don't use them!?
And totally sounds like Coop is ready for some freedom. And you'll have to share the vet reaction to lack of stitches to remove at the stitch removal.
HAHAA!!! That.is.HILARIOUS!!
I know right?! He flew past me down the stairs & DH & I were like "OHohohoh!" Coop got to the bottom & looked up @ me (still 1/2 way down the stairs) like "uh, yeah, what Mom? Whats the big idea?"
