MOPS?

Does anyone attend a MOPS group? I was contemplating checking it out to socialize more with other mommies and to help DS make more friends, but I don't know much about it. Anyone care to educate me or tell me about their experiences with it?

Re: MOPS?

  • I am a member of MOPS for the second time around. I love the camaraderie and time with women going through a similar phase in life. Today I actually ran into a woman who was in my old group (6-9 years ago) and it was really cool.

I know some people who might not be comfortable in church enjoy MOPS because it's kind of church-lite. Each group is a bit different based on the mix if women and even the supporting church where they meet. You do not have to be a church member, or a Christian to go, but realize they will have prayer, Bible lessons for kids (depending on age), and speakers will probably be in ministry or have some kind of Christian background.

I live in Arvada, and like ours a lot. I do know of another great one up I-70 west a few minutes too.  I don't know what else to tell you, but am happy to answer questions. Smile

  • I actually go to MOPS with GoldenJes and eventhough we are not in the same small group I think it has made us closer. I have also met a few ladies who live in my same neighborhood, have kids the same age, and are the same age as me. I am not very religious and I don't have any issues with it. For me it is more about finding and giving support to other moms. The women are welcoming and It's nice to have that break from DD twice a month. I have found a lot of support in what they call mentor moms which are older moms with kids in their teens, 20's and up. I don't know what part of town you are in but I also know of a really great MOPS group in highlands ranch.
