Feline Asthma

salasala member

Hi!  Long time no nest!  It's been awhile but I have a cat related question.  I know Kaiene has a cat with asthma but I'd love input from others as well.

My Millie has asthma and we've been treating in with Prednisone tabs. (as an aside pill pockets are the greatest invention EVER! Can't believe how long we went without them!)  Right now she is going through a spell where she needs them almost daily.  I was curious to what treatments others used, and if you use predisone how often does your cat take it.

Thanks!

Re: Feline Asthma

  • Hey there! L has been doing well with hers, and right now we are trying to do a dose every 2 weeks. We were doing every 10 days. Sometimes, though, in the spring and fall (when the windows are open before or after we've turned on the a/c), she needs it more frequently. I remember our vet saying something about inhalers, but I honestly don't remember if there is another medication option. Have you changed your furnace filter recently? I remember that you know the other tips, like using a HEPA filter and dusting/sweeping/mopping frequently and not using harsh chemicals. Beyond that, I don't think I can be of help. Hope Millie feels better soon!
