My recipe is Spiced Chicken w/ Couscous Salad. It doesn't actually call for cooking the couscous - you add hot tap water and let sit 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork and adding the other ingredients (olive oil, veggies, spices). I guess b/c it is a "salad".
Has anyone prepared it this way before? The couscous pkg instructions say to add to boiling water, stir and remove from heat, then fluff. I guess the difference being the temperature of the water.
I usually always prepare a new recipe following it to a tee the first time, then make my changes accordingly. I'm afraid if it doesn't come out right though it will ruin couscous for H indefinitely! lol Any tips?
Re: Making couscous for 1st time...
You'll be fine. Microwave your water for 1 minute or so before you add it.
I make cous cous in a 1:1 ratio with water. Heat water to boiling (or near boiling), add to a bowl with cous cous, cover, let sit 5 minutes.
