Dog less happy/more moody?

My dog Jerrick is around 1 and a half (don't know exact birthday).  This month marked a year since we adopted him.  He is a normally VERY energetic dog (Aussie, lab, golden retriever mix of some sort most likely), and typically very loving towards both DH and I.  Over the past several weeks, he has begun getting very moody on and off -- not enjoying seeing some of the same dog friends as normal, paying less attention to DH and I than normal, sleeping more often, etc.  He is eating fine...possibly slightly less because he is sleeping more.  I took him to the vet a week ago and they said his physical health didn't show any signs of problems.  He does still play and show affection, but not as much, and he seems to want more attention from strangers and neighbors instead. (People he doesn't see much, or who don't really know him beyond by sight)

I'm curious to know if anyone else's dog goes through stages like this.  I would say its the time of year, but its been warming up rapidly and is pretty much like spring in our area now.  Jerrick adores socialization -- is he bored with his routine again, or with seeing the same people and dogs?  He also seems to be reverting back to some of the nervous behavior he had when we first got him....clingy, whimpering for attention when he would have just come up to you several months ago, and being frightened again by nail trimmers and noisy appliances in the house.   Any ideas about what this could be and how to help him?
