When you think of March....

I am working on a newsletter for March, and need to finish it tomorrow with a couple of things.  But, I can't decide which one of these ideas I should focus on.  I'll be including recipes and kids' crafts with the theme for March

Re: When you think of March....

  • You know I had to put St Pat's.  I grew up here in Savannah.  The entire first half of March is all about Irish Fest and St Paddy's Day.  The second half is Music Fest.  The green has already started coming out at our house.

I love Savannah's St. Paddy's festivities!  When we were stationed at Moody, we drove to Savannah for a couple years worth of partying it up!  I even bought one of the uber-cliche, "I got river-faced on shhh-street" t-shirts one year :{)

  • I don't even understand the Dr Seuss connection.

I think of spring skiing, green beer, ides of march, and the lamb/lion thing.  But now that I live in the land of one season, I hardly think of the months anymore.

March marks what would have been his 108th birthday.

I think of St. Patrick's day and my birthday since they happen to be one in the same :)

However Dr. Seuss would be more appropriate for a children's news letter.  Maybe do something along the lines of "celebrate Dr. Seuss with green eggs and ham for breakfast".

  • People know Seuss' birthday?

  • I put St. Patrick's Day but don't go for the obvious.  I didn't know it was Dr. Suess' birthday...that would be something fun to learn and gives you a lot to work with.  Save a spring theme for April.

  • OK, I googled.  According to wiki, Seuss' birthday is national read across america day.  That's a good newsletter topic, for both kids and adults.

  • I absolutely love all of those three things so I put S.S., but if you tied me down and made me choose I'd put St. Paddy's day. It can be so much fun.

  • I grew up in a famous college town right outside of St Louis (both have massive St Patty's celebrations/parades) in a BIG Irish Catholic family, so obv that's what comes to mind for me.  I *almost* had St Pat's babies.  They were born 5 days later, close enough.

  • I like the idea of saving a spring theme for March, when all of the Cherry Blossoms are blooming ( they're blooming late this year) and Focusing on Dr. Suess' Birthday and St. Patrick's Day.  Base does a big Suess celebration including a parade, so that's the only reason I know about it, because they made such a big deal about it last year.

Thanks girls!  Now here I go to stare at my screen for 12 hours....  I need to work on my time management skills.

You even it out for us then because neither of us get into it. I hate basketball. *barf*
