Autographed Cookbooks...WWYD?

Over the years, I've gotten several cookbooks autographed after meeting various celebrity chefs. They just aren't cookbooks I really care for or use. I'm not sure if I should even bother keeping them just because they signed/addressed to me. What would you do? Donate them since they are unwanted or keep them for the sake of them being personalized? These are cookbooks signed from:

Cat Cora
Todd English
Fabio Vivani
Takashi Yagihashi
George Duran
Curtis Stone
Ming Tsai

Re: Autographed Cookbooks...WWYD?

  • You need a new option -- mail them to me!  Haha, I love cookbooks.  I have some I don't use often, but I keep them around anyway.  I'd probably tear out the page that is autographed, then donate.  That way you have the autographs/personalized page but someone else can use the cookbook.  It's probably the title page anyway, and if I picked up a cookbook at a secondhand store or whatever, I most likely wouldn't notice it was missing, or if I did, wouldn't care since it doesn't affect the content (recipes) in the book.

    Um, yeah, I'll take some!

  • Um, I'd totally take the Cat Cora one.

I would say that in some fashion you need to make them exit your place. You can use that space for cookbooks you do use, new ones you want to try, etc. Even binders with laminated sheets of your recipes and/or photos.

  • I'll take the Ming Tsai one! Seriously though, if you have no use for the cookbooks, maybe you can donate them to a local library or an aspiring chef at a cooking school?
  • do they have your name in them or just autographs? you could put them on ebay or something.

  • I think you should do a giveaway on your blog. Of course, say how much you loooove the chefs, but really want to give something personal to your readers as a thank you for being so awesome over the years.

Ditto....I was thinking the same thing. A blog giveaway is a great way to get rid of them by giving them to someone who really wants them/would use them!

    agreed - I'd enter :)

I just got 7 from Lidia and will never let them go!

  • I ended up donating them. They all had my name on them/addressed to me, along with some random short phrase and their signature. Oh well. Hopefully someone will make better use of the books than I did!

    Huh?
