Baba Ganoush FAIL

I've been wanting to make baba ganoush for a while and it's on my 31 while 31 list.  I found a recipe on Food Network, followed the directions exactly, and it was horrible.  It just tasted bad.  I threw the entire thing away.

So, do you have any tried and true Bab Ganoush recipes you could share?  Thanks!

Re: Baba Ganoush FAIL

  • Was it bitter?  Was the eggplant you used good quality?  What was so bad about it?
  • I've never had it before, but I'm sorry it turned out bad.  I tried making pad thai (from my 28 by 28 list) a couple of weeks ago and it was so disgusting that the whole dish went in the garbage.  Lame.

It was a little bitter and just had more of a lack of flavors then a good flavor.  The eggplant was good-it's from the produce market where I buy most of my fruits and vegetables.  It was just very blah and a little bitter.  What in the world went wrong?

  • I've made baba ghanoush with this recipe before, and it's been good!
