Dip for fruit?

Does anyone have a very easy dip that can be used for fruit, like with apple or pear slices? This is for my kid, not a party, so simple > fancy in this case. Maybe some jazzed up vanilla yogurt or something?

Re: Dip for fruit?

  • I loooove the t. marzetti's caramel dip.

A friend made a dip a couple years ago for a party, I think it had cream cheese, yogurt, and honey.

  • T. Marzetti also makes a fruit dip.  It tastes like marshmellow fluff to me.

  • We mix low fat sour cream with a good amount of sugar substitute & cinnamon as a dip for strawberries.  I realize tat doesn't sound super appealing but it's seriously delicious.  Strawberries are probably much messier than apples though - Jif makes little to-go cups of peanut butter, or you could do essentially the same thing by portioning peanut butter into small-sized tupperware. Ditto pp about Marzetti's caramel dip- though it's super high in sugar; Marzetti's also makes a creamy fruit dip you could check out.
  • Silver Diner, with the healthy options menu, serves strawberries with a yogurt/cinnamon dipping sauce and it's really good!
  • McDonald's uses vanilla yogurt.  I think it makes an excellent simple dip for fruit!  The "La Creme" yogurt (or the latin brand in yellow container - custard style) is really good for this, since it's a little thicker. Add in a little pumpkin pie (or apple pie) spice blend, if you have some around.
  • My SIL had a fruit platter with dip made of just marshmallow fluff and maybe a tablespoon or two of the liquid from a jar of maraschino cherries. Not as healthy as some of the above, but yummy.

  • Not super healthy, but I've made a dip that's about half marshmallow fluff and half cream cheese (amount depends on taste). It's delish!

  • I think just a simple vanilla yogurt is yummy.  Any of the kids' brands ones would be sweeter (we've used the small cups w/Cars on the package).  And for fun, I add a pinch of multi-colored sprinkles to the top.  Because really, don't sprinkles make everything taste better? :-)

  • Thanks for the ideas! I don't think I'm ready to give my kid marshmallow fluff, although that sounds tasty for me. :) Vanilla yogurt with cinnamon sounds good and healthy.

  • my kids will eat anything if i serve it with dip

lately, for a sweet dip, they have been having a dip made with plain greek yogurt, mila (a chia seed), and a drop of vanilla, agave nectar, cinnamon and a little milk (sometimes soy, sometimes dairy) to smooth it out.

Same here! I'm hoping this will expand our fruit consumption beyond bananas and grapes.
