i love aruba...i have stayed at the renaisance downtown (before it was the renasisance, and i think that's its name but not 100% sure)...they have a nice pool, but a beautiful private beach you're taken to by boat. i have also stayed at the marriot...this is my favorite...they have a gorgeous pool, its the last hotel on the strip, and the beach is gorgeous...dining on the island is wonderful, there are casinos, and some nightlife...there are things to do, but not a ton...
We spent 5 days on Paradise Island about 8 years ago. We did not stay at Atlantis but at another all-inclusive on the island and it was nice. You can walk that island it's so small. You can (or could at the time) go gamble at Atlantis and eat in some of the restaurants and you can also usually take excursions into Nassau at night through your hotel.
We went on a 5 day cruise out of Bayonne to Bermuda in 2007 on the Explorer of the Seas. It Was AWESOME. Bermuda is BEAUTIFUL. The ship was great too. So relaxing. We were in Bermuda for 2 days. One day we went sightseeing and the other we just laid on the most amazing beach I've ever been on in my life. The water is amazing. It was a great trip and I recommend it to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
We have been to Aruba and the Bahamas. I think Aruba would be my least favorite of the 2 Ive been to for 2 reasons:
1. It is very windy there
2. It is a far trip- it is almost near South America, so I think for a shorter trip, Bermuda or Bahamas would be better.
We stayed at the One and Only club in the Bahamas, sister property to the Atlantis. it was gorgeous. We plan to go to the Atlantis with the kids in the next couple of years. I did not experience the Bahamas seeming "rough" when we walked around the town.
LOVE Aruba!
We have a timeshare at the Occidental. The island is nice, great dining all over, and very friendly people. It's very safe too. When we went last summer (our 5th) time, we brought our kids and MIL. She and I walked to a shopping mall with kids while MH went snorkeling. I personally never found the flight too long...it's about 4hrs. Also, the trade winds never bothered us either.
