NCR: Anyone a lawyer??

I need some "off the record" advice. I have a former client (I am a wedding planner) who is threatening to sue me but I don't think she has a leg to stand on. Wondering if I am right and if I need to seek legal counsel. To keep it off here please email me princessannie122 at yahoo dot com. Any help/advice would be appreciated. :)

Re: NCR: Anyone a lawyer??

  • You may want to post this on the Money Matters board - there are many lawyers that post there.

  • Well that was a bust! Don't think I will be revisiting that board again. I put in a call to an attorney this morning and am waiting to hear back. I was just freaking out this morning and wanted some peace of mind.
  • I'm not an attorney, but my H is.  From what I can tell from conversations and some of his cases, the other party doesn't necessarily need a leg to stand on to sue you.  What they do need is an attorney willing to try and someone they can take on.  I'd get yourself an attorney.  If she truly doesn't have a leg to stand on, your attorney should be able to make short work of everything.

  • You probably aren't getting any responses, because at least in my state its unethical for attorneys to give advice on public message boards.

Good Luck and I hope the attorney you speak to is able to give you the answers you want.

I don't know why you're hating on MM. No one was mean or rude to you. Everyone just pointed out that (a) you need to contact a lawyer in your jurisdiction and (b) lawyers have ethical obligations that prohibit them from answering your question even "off the record."
