Disney(land) - where do you start?

Unlike many of you....I think we are headed to DisneyLAND this summer. I'm trying to figure out where to start, lol. I've already emailed the talented and wonderful Denise about hotel info but what about everything else?  What are your best Disney resources? I would imagine that there are message boards and forums that discuss both parks, right?? Books??

If anyone has DisneyLand experience I'm all ears (pun intended Wink).

this board has been great for me planning my WDW trip - it has a Disneyland section, too.

I used to be Goldie_locks_5 but the new nest is so screwed up that I was forced to start over.

  • I booked our trip through AAA travel on the website.  I checked out the deals on the Disneyland website first and the prices were pretty much the same thing everywhere.  We only went for 2 days, so I just made sure that I made a list of the things we absolutely wanted to go to.  My son is also younger, so I didn't t hink there was a ton he'd want to do.

Based on the dates you're going, I think the new Cars Land will be open.  We also weren't going to have a car while we were down there so we wanted to stay at one of the Resort hotels.  We stayed at Paradise Pier and it was very nice.  It was the least expensive and it wasn't a far walk at all.

Definitely make sure you can go to World of Color one night.  It was done by the same people as the Bellagio fountains.  It's a very pretty show.  We used one of our character dinners for dinner at Ariel's Grotto and it got us into the VIP section.  We did another character dining for Surf's Up breakfast at the Paradise Pier hotel.

DS had a wonderful time!  It was so worth the money.  I got a lot of info from a friend that is a season ticket holder there.  Let me know if you have any specific questions.

  • Definitely check out www.disboards.com.  We stayed offsite for two nights when went, but I would definitely stay in one of the hotels in the Downtown Disney section.  I would plan on 2-3 days total for the parks and DTD.
