Update on Jack's teeth

Well, we almost made it to 20 months with no lost teeth.  ;)

The dentist tried to push it back into place and as soon as he touched it, he knew the bone was broken there so he had to extract it.  :(  The one to the side of that is loose, too, but he's not concerned with that one.  He thinks it will re-bond with no problem.

Thank you guys for caring!!  It means a lot.

I just feel so badly for Jack.  Poor kid won't have a front tooth until he's 7 or 8.  It's going to be harder for him to talk and eat.  And this is so vain but his cute little smile is just...different now.  I know that in the end, everything will be fine but it's definitely been a bit of a meltdown day.

And now I'm off to make and puree soup for him.

Re: Update on Jack's teeth

  • Well, thank goodness he's ok!  Too bad his tooth was broken and had to be extracted. At least this was a baby tooth and that a new one will grow in (even though it'll be a few years).

    Hugs to you and Jack!

  • Poor little guy! Luckily boys are tough and rebound quickly, he'll be back to his old self in no time and he'll learn to eat just fine with out his two front teeth!

  • Oh no!  I didn't see the original post but I'm glad to hear Jack will be okay.
  • I'm glad he's on the mend. How scary!
  • Poor little guy, but I'm glad it isn't too serious.

I'm sure his tooth-less smile will grow on you, he's pretty darn cute, so I don't think it'll affect him much :)!

  • poor kiddo!  I knocked out one of my front teeth when I was 4.  Was totally toothless until my permanent one came in around 6.  I was old enough everyone just assumed I lost it early, but still.  He's quite a bit younger, but he'll survive.  Just teach him to say "you should see the other guy" if people ask him about it Stick out tongue

Hahahah! I loe this. I'm definitely teaching him to say that.  I need a laugh. Thanks. ;)

  • I lost my tooth when I was 4, too, at my brother's 7th birthday party.  Totally stole his thunder with that bloody nightmare.  They stuck it back in and it survive for awhile before it died - so I went on for awhile without a tooth.  No scars here!

    Feel better baby Jack.

  • I'm sorry. He will bounce back quickly I'm sure. At least it wasn't a permanent tooth.
  • Oh honey, I imagine this has been incredibly difficult. Hugs!! I'm glad he's ok and especially glad this is his baby tooth and he will eventually get a permanent tooth. It'll take some getting use to but you'll love his new smile. :)
  • Aww, poor Jack!

Caroline fell off a platform about a year ago, and we thought we were going to have to extract her tooth as well.  Luckily, she ended up being fine, but I was also unreasonably upset about it, so I feel your pain.  I hope he's not in too much pain!!

  • I?m sorry he had to lose his front tooth but thank goodness it?s only a baby tooth and he?s okay! I hope he is feeling better and I hope you are feeling better too!

  • This happened to my brother, right around the same age!  Not only did he have to have one front tooth pulled...the other one was dark gray from the fall.  So he looked pretty funny for about 5 years...lol.  But he survived.  Jack will too!
