Re: S/O 12 years, clicky poll

  • I'm SS. I hide mombies, my family, idiots, etc.

  • It's not only for the mombies, but also those people whose posts are always negative.

(Did I use the correct form of "whose"? I never got that one down.)

  • I hide mombies, or if someone posts a pic of a baby bump, that is an automatic hide.  I hide people who are constantly posting updates from whatever stupid game they are playing.  I hide people who take up my whole news feed with depressing status updates, ect.  It sounds like I hide people non stop, but really it takes a lot for me to hide somebody.

    Yes, you did Yes

  • So for everyone who is hidden, how often do you go back to see their profiles? To see if they are less mombie, crazy, or depressing?

What does it take to get them reinstated on your friend feed?

  • I only have a few hidden:  one mombie, three relatives who are immature, and one guy for always posting bible verses and religious messages several times per day

So for everyone who is hidden, how often do you go back to see their profiles? To see if they are less mombie, crazy, or depressing?   I do not go to their profiles, they are essentially forgotten by me in FB world if they get the HIDE.

What does it take to get them reinstated on your friend feed?  I guess when the immature relatives stop acting so childish, then maybe they can have some hope.    The others probably won't get reinstated but I don't want to just drop them because I don't like what they say.   I still want to maintain a connection from whatever ties they have with me.

  • I tend to hide things (eg, Farmville updates or whatever), rather than people.
  • Is this where you hide yourself online whenever these people come on or is there a hide feature where you can hide them? I am a little lost. Sorry. I dont hide myself at all on fb if we are talking about the chat feature, etc.

  • I have been recently going through fb and deleting people. If I noticed we have not had activity in over a year you will get deleted. What is the use? Also, if all you are doing is sending me invites to CafeVille or something like that they will get deleted.

Should be completed cleaning out fb by this summer hopefully.

  • Most posts don't bother me enough to hide people, but occasionally I do if they're really annoying and repeat offenders.

The few I have hidden right now fit into these categories:  mombie, always negative and whiny, constantly plays games that show up in my news feed, or only posts about politics.

If someone posts something outrageous and assholish then I just "unfriend."

You can "unsubscribe to people" and hide people individually, so you never see what comes from them through your friend. You actually have to actively seek them out to see them.

  • I am with Liz on this, I tend to hide things more than people.

The very few that I have hidden, I have ended up going back after a couple of months, and they still seem to overly obnoxious, I defriend. Clearly the haven't missed me commenting on their posts. (And to be fair, the are people that are not commenting on my stuff either.)

I do this also.  I checked my settings one day and I have over 100 random games and apps blocked since I joined Facebook in 2006, and I'm still continuing to block more.  lol

  • I haven't had to hide anyone, but I guess I have a high annoyance tolerance.  I do on the other hand, have my parents, one sister and brother, and H's XW blocked so that I don't have to see their lame azz and mean comments or worry about them trying to FB stalk me.

  • I said, yes, constantly. Anyone who posts for attention/never responds when you ask what's going on, posts constant updates about what they're doing/eating/etc, mombies - esp. ones asking for advice, or just obnoxious people. I don't de-friend them simply because it's family/people I have to see frequently and don't want to deal with the "Why aren't we FB friends??" conversations.

I do this as well.  I hide every app the 1st time it appears because they drive me crazy.

When anyone really annoys me, I just "un-friend" them.

  • I hide the stupid game posts, and people who constantly post political crap (either liberal or conservative), it just annoys me.  You're not going to convince me to change my beliefs by constantly posting about yours.
  • I wouldn't say constantly.. once the dumbasses are already hidden there's no need to re-hide them.

I don't keep adding new idiots.

  • I hide people that get on my nerves and/or have 10,000,000 status updates per day.  One of my friends admitted to me that she hides me during football season, lol.
