Dog Friendly Midwest Cabin-type Vacations

I know that the title of this sounds SO specific but I'm hoping you can help.  We're looking for a getaway for about 3 nights in a cabin type setting that we can take our dog with us.  We already went to Hocking Hills in September so that place is out.  We're open to any states surrounding Ohio including Ohio.. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: Dog Friendly Midwest Cabin-type Vacations

  • Are you looking for a beach front cabin, or something in the woods?  There are seriously so many cabin rentals all over Michigan.  You can get one on one of the great lakes, small inland lake, middle of nowhere.  My inlaws have a cabin in Caseville, which is near the tip of the thumb.  Tons of the cabins are available for rental there.  Have you checked VRBO.com?  Just google cabin rentals michigan and a gazillion pop up.

  • I haven't stayed there with our dogs, but we have been to Whitewater State Park/Brookville Lake in Indiana. The cabins were really nice and there's hiking as well as boating and fishing and lake beach areas.
  • I vote MI! The great lakes are beautiful and if you go towards fall you can see how gorgeous the leaf changing is. I'd suggest either up towards the Upper peninsula or west side. Even though I lived on the east side I think the western side is beautiful.
