QOTD: Tuesday

If you had to be a member of a family on a TV show, which family would it be and why?

Re: QOTD: Tuesday

  • I wouldn't mind being Rory Gilmore's older sister. They seem like fun people to hang around with, and they live in a cute Connecticut town. I would also love to share their metabolism (eat tons of junk food and never gain weight!).

  • The Huxtables - I think it would be great growing up in a family with role models like a doctor dad and a bilingual lawyer mom who also owns silk pajamas in every color of the rainbow. I thought the sibling rivalry was also pretty realistic.

  • The family from Raising Hope.  Not only are they hilarious, but they will do anything for each other.
  • Parenthood. Bc then Lauren Graham could be my sister. (and bc WNW already took GG. Wink)
    Pam and John
    "What is a week-end?"
  • i would totally be a Huxtable!

our family values are similar; they aren't a perfect family, but they do work out their problems in a healthy, nurturing way; education is not a privilege but an expectation; wonderful, loving, respectful relationship between the parents; two sets of grandparents. they are just missing a dog. everything i want my family to be.

I was thinking Parenthood too, but then I decided that all that bickering and talking over each other would make me mental -- though I would love to live in that house that the parents live in!

I wouldn't mind being Addison's sister on Private Practice.  I'd move into her kick ass beach house and hang out with a bunch of hottie doctors all day long.  She's a little neurotic, but probably no more so than I am, or my current sister, so I think I'd fit in beautifully.

  • Well Gilmore Girls was my first choice and the Huxtables my second, so I'll go with Full House.  It would be great to grow-up with so much family around, but in a tolerable way.  Plust they seemed to live in a really neat area of SF.
  • Absolutely no doubt - the Huxtables. Every time I watch the show I wish I could be one of them. :)
  • Definitely the Huxtables!  Great family dynamic.

  • I'll go with Full House as well. I loved that show. Their house is gorgeous, the weather always looks nice, and it would be fun to see what life is like having siblings (I'm an only child).

  • Not just to harp on my "thing," but the first answer that popped into my head was The Muppet Show. They're like a family.

They're pretty dysfunctional, yes, but it's clear they love and adore each other and will work through thick and thin together. They're all working together with a passion for sharing their talent with the world. They're not afraid to be silly or bold or LOUD. And though there's a lot of chaos, it would be worth it for the love of what they're doing and for all the variety and challenge it offers them. (And it wouldn't hurt that I'd get to meet celebrities like oh, say, Jon Hamm *drool*)

  • The first thing that popped in my head was the Taylors from Friday Night Lights because I love them so much as parents. This would mean I'd have to be Julie Taylor's sister though which I am less crazy about.

The Bluths from Arrested Development would always be interesting/crazy.

  • I would have loved to have been a Keaton (sister of Alex P, although more like Jennifer than Mallory)!
  • The Huxtables or the Keatons.  I was trying to think of a more recent family, and I think my own experience of growing up is tinged with nostalgia so my choices seem to be too.  What I love best about both of those shows and what I think mirrors family life most perfectly is that all the characters were fully developed.  While some of the children may have started off as a stereotype (ex. Mallory as dumb and popular) she was formed into her own person over the years.
  • No fair! I want to be the missing Gilmore sister!

I don't watch a lot of shows where the family is all hunky dory, so I'm otherwise drawing a blank.

  • I can't think of one right now. What family has a cool house? Maybe the Cohens on the OC??

  • i too want to be a Huxtable, for all the reasons mentioned above, but most importantly to do the annual family anniversary performance (BA-BAYYYYYY!)
