Tuesday!

Good morning, pals.

Here's something random: Arlo the dog commutes when he eats.  He gets a mouth full of food from the bowl, walks to the room I'm in, and then chews and eats.  Neurotic dog.

Re: Tuesday!

  • oh my goodness, one of my dogs does that too! I always thought it was because he is scared of one of our cats and didn't want to be in the basement (where their food and litterboxes are) any longer than necessary. He'll scoop up a mouthful and run upstairs, put it on the floor, and then eat it.

  • Last week I pet-sat for a dog that did that. So weird.
  • G'morning!

I've got nothing doggy related other than all of that sounds hilarious.

B is signed up for some super secret project at work that required a 5 year confidentiality agreement. Him telling me that made me want to know what it is even more.

Tonight I'm making shrimp alfredo with salad and garlic bread. It may only be 9:30am, but I want it now.

  • I had been feeling really good about my "new job" prospects a couple weeks ago, but I haven't heard back from anyone in a week, and one position I thought was a shoo-in (Shoe-in? Is that a fossil word?)  was just reposted and the recruiter is saying she needs applicants... Ugh. That one I'm especially bummed about because I've been thisclose to getting in to the company twice this year.
  • Well, we signed the closing docs and paid our money, but still don't have the keys.  Grrr.

Should get them today after PNC disperses the money for the mortgage.  I don't recommend PNC for mortgages after this fiasco.

They reposted the job without letting you know you didn't get it first?  That's incredibly crappy.  I'm sorry.

  • JGE- how long has it been since you applied? Maybe you have to formally reapply? I think it's worth a shot if you really want it.

You can't be forced to testify against your spouse, right? =D

  • Good morning.

GRSP and Wendy, I like your dogs' goofy eating habits.

    BnG, your dinner sounds wonderful!

Molly, sorry to hear about the closing headaches.

JGE, sorry to hear about your job search frustrations.  That sounds maddening.  I just received another email rejection last week too.  Always disappointing.

I'm mad at the weather.  The impending ice strom could yet again impact the work event I have planned for first thing tomorrow morning.  I'm trying to decide whether to postpone because of the potential icy roads, or hope for the best.

  • I got my MI tax refund back today!!!!!! Yeah!!!

I meant I got my federal refund. I am still happy. Is it taking longer to get state?

  • Kasa, it seems that winter weather is semi-dependent on your work event schedule.  If you plan it, it will snow (or ice).  I'm really sorry you have to worry about that.

JGE: ugh.  Sorry about the job situation.  What's wrong w/ that place, don't they realize what amazingness is in front of them?!

Wendy, is your dog that eats like that completely co-dependent, and follows you around the house?  I wonder what theory might explain that eating habit.

The date for my comprehensive exam has been set.  Nov. 3 feels like forever away, but I need to start studying.

I'm out of the loop, but were you working directly with the recruiter?  Can you call them for a follow-up to see what happened?  Or call / follow-up with one of the people that interviewed you?  How strange that no one notified you that the position was going to be posted again.  In fact, that's pretty rude.  Maybe for HR reasons, they need to interview more applicants before making the decision, but you're still in the pool?  That could be why they didn't contact you to interview and apply again.  Best of luck.  I'm sure you'd be an asset to this company, and if they go another way, it's their loss!

All this dog talk is making me want my parents to get a dog.  They have been dogless for over three years.  When I go home to visit them, it still has this 'empty' feel to it.  My mom cannot convince my dad though (she's gone a lot during the week with the grandkids).  Then sometimes I want to get a dog.  I couldn't do that to my cats though.

Gordie does this on occassion too.  Toby does it in a different way - he will attempt to carry the entire bowl of food from the kitchen into the living room (about 10 feet).  Sometimes he makes it and is able to perfectly set the bowl down on the floor.  Most of the time he drops it at some point and sends kibble scattering everywhere.

Well hello, stranger. That picture of V on FB today is adorable.  She is just darling.
  • Is the nest being stupid for anyone else?

Kasa, GRSP, BnG, and KerCo, I got a call from the recruiter just after I posted my first message. She's helping me schedule an interview now for sometime this week. I also asked her about a couple new postings I saw on the site...

Howdy-do!  Things are slow at work right now (which doesn't seem to happen much anymore), so I've got time to play on the nest!  Of course, the nest is being super slow the day I get to participate!
And thank you.  Very kind.  I can't believe how fast she's growing!

Yes, they are both velcro dogs but he is worse than our other one.

  • KerCo, Miss V needs a puppy.

Actually, I just want someone I know to get a puppy.  I was drugged by puppy breath over the weekend.  My nephew had his 3rd b-day party, and my SIL's parents brought their 10 month old lab puppy.  When the party started, Willa followed Max everywhere.  At the end, he was following her.  Adorable.  We can not have a 3rd dog, so KerCo, I'm counting on you.Stick out tongue

I saw the cutest dog in the mall about a month ago with TH and V.  They were doing some dog training, so there were dogs all over the place.  This girl was a beauty, and so docile with V.  I wanted to snatch her up and take her home with us.  She looked like a lab, but had this auburn / red coloring to her.  Gorgeous!  Anyway, I could prob convince TH eventually, but what do you do with the dog while working all day?  Or trips?  I grew up in the country, our dogs just stayed outside while we were gone.  Puppy training and getting it house broken.  Lots to think about.  And poor Nico.  He'd prob have a heart attack.  First V chasing him around, then a dog.  haha.

Just do your research, and you'll be fine. :-)  Housebreaking and crate training were fairly easy and life savers.  Puppies will want to chew, so either having them crated or continuously watching them is a must.  When ours was a pup in the crate, we did have to come home to let him out at lunch for the first few months.  After one and a half years we were able to trust him in the house not crated.

You can look for breeds that have qualities you want - docile, good with children, good with cats, etc. and then find or reputable breeder or you can use Petfinder -  they can tell you about the dogs (they indicate immediately whether they are good with cats/kids) and you could get a slightly older dog that is already housebroken and past his puppy mischief years.

Yes, I've noticed.  Next event will be in mid-April.  I'm sure we'll have terrible weather.  You all have been warned.

  • JGE, glad to hear that you were able to touch base with your recruiter.  Good news!

  • Hi Girls!!! Glad to see people chatting today.

I picked up a new crock pot today and currently have a nice boneless english roast going in it. I also ordered new slipper for DH & myself and our Federal return came in yesterday. Next week the car goes in for repair and we will have a rental for a week.

I can happily report that SS is now only failing 3 classes instead of all of them.
