What projects are you working on?
I finally got out in my yard yesterday. I have grass visible for the first time in over a month. Yay! I love winter, but am ready for it to be over.
In the next few weeks, we'll be clearing out a messy 20x20 brush area, pruning back a huge volunteer tree that keeps dropping branches on the neighbors in the wind, fixing the fence (wind), building a SFG bed, and random brokenbranch cleanup. I'm also trying to decide what to do with the lawn. In trying to be natural/chemical-free over the last couple of years, I totally messed it up. It's really lumpy & weedy now.
My to-do list for the front is pruning roses, finishing the stripstone retaining wall, shearing & moving a gorgeous volunteer grass plant.
I'm just excited to start on outside work!

We had a really mild winter here, so the front is actually all ready to go. I spent the last few weeks clearing missed weeds and mulching. I started a few early direct-sow annuals (sweet peas mostly). Mid-month is last frost so I can start even more then.
I'm going to add a cheap hoop house to one of the veggie beds, give the soil a little goosing of compost and start some cool-weather seeds (chard, beets, broccoli, cauliflower, lettuce). I cannot freaking wait for harvest, it's been too long with grocery store produce.
I trimmed my wallflower (which was looking pretty miserable). I tucked some of the cuttings into the empty veggie beds and most of them seem to be rooting. Yay! So I guess I'll have to find some spaces for those.
As soon as it blooms I need to prune my ribes (it sets buds for next year just after blooming). I'll be doing it myself because last time I was trying to train it into a tree shape and Mr M took out the main trunk. o.0

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
We have our pepper seeds starting to sprout in their domes. DH has been browsing the seed catalogs getting an idea of what to plant this year. I think we are skipping the melons and maybe will try carrots
We need to have someone out to do general yard clean up. We need some branches trimmed and removed and leaves removed and the edges of the gardens done.
We've had a very mild winter in W. Mi, but it's not over yet. I'm tempted to start some peas and lettuce, but know that the minute those first tiny fingers of green come out of the soil, we'll get hit with a big, and long lasting snow.
All of my projects are on paper and in my dreams right now.
In about a month, I'll get started.
We are starting a bunch of seeds right now. Some of the broccolli have got their first true leaves in, so I am excited about that.
I still have two more garden beds to dig up in our yard for more vegetables this year.
We've had freakishly awesome weather lately and on yesterday's 'extra' 24 hours, I put it to good use and started a crapload of seeds. I worked outside but then moved it all inside. I built my own grow light (go me) and made a bunch of little seed starting pots with toilet paper rolls and started a bunch of herbs ( to mainly keep inside) and eggplant, peppers and spinach.
I cleaned out a bunch of leaves from our front flower beds and trimmed a bunch of dead plans yesterday. It seriously felt like LATE spring rather than February 29.
My brother is going to build me a 'fancy' raised bed for my vegetables and I am beyond stoked. eeek!
spiritenergy - thanks for reminding me - I need to get broccoli seeds since I'm trying that in the SFG this year.
hiltyn78 - I'd love to hear how you like the TP roll pots. A friend was debating doing all of hers that way this year but opted for those little peat pots instead.

We're starting our landscaping project this weekend! Totally redoing the side yard, adding 5 raised beds, a flagstone patio & path to the back gate, a pergola and a ton of fruit trees & 3 grape vines.
This weekend we're ordering stone & gravel, sealing the lumber for the raised beds with linseed oil and starting all our seedlings.
I'm so excited.

we need to go pick up some compost to enrich our SFG beds so I can plant my snap peas soon. Maybe look for a taller, more heavy duty trellis as well.
I want to mulch my spring flower bed and clean up my other beds.
can't wait til April when I can go on my plant shopping spring and plant stuff

Our main project is doing battle with my neighbors' weeds. I'm so sick of their weed infested effing lawns. Last weekend we finally got the back flowerbeds weeded, and I planted some lettuce.
I need to plant my snap peas. I don't want to wait to late in getting them planted. Spring doesn't exactly last a long time in my neck of the woods. It's usually hot here by late May.
Right now- watching the snow slowly melt. You guys are making me jealous!
As soon as the ground thaws my big project will be to redo our raised veggie bed. DH made me a long narrow bed along my workshop probably 8 years ago, the wood has started to fall apart so we are going to take it all apart and rebuild as well as expand. I am supper excited to get out there and and get my hands dirty!
