baby shower food

I am co-hosting a baby shower soon and need some help with foods to serve. The color scheme is grays & orange (a medium orange - not bold, not pastel). The shower is in the morning. I would like to have some foods that represent the color scheme. Any thoughts?

Re: baby shower food

  • I dont know how it would work with incorporating your colors - but I saw a really neat idea on Pinterest last night - a make your own fruit pizza bar.  They had the fruit, cream cheese...etc. all laid out and people assembled their own.

  • decorated cupcakes/cake/cookies

    cheddar cheese & crackers

That's all I got.  Grey food just doesn't look/sound appetizing.

  • Ooh creamsicles same to mind for me. You could do the actual ice cream treat, or maybe do an orange cake with cream filling to make a creamsicle trifle.

Orange Julius is always good too!

  • Orange is pretty easy to do as there are several (orange-ish) fruits: oranges, apricots, papayas, peaches, cantaloupe, mangoes. The only gray-ish foods I can think of are mushrooms.

Peaches, mangoes, berries, granola, and yogurt would be a good combination for make your own parfaits.

Peaches and Mandarin oranges are often found on fruit pizzas along with strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, and grapes.. You could probably make a gray frosting by combining cream cheese with blueberry juice. Drain frozen blueberries or purchase and squeeze some fresh blueberries. I wouldn't use blue food coloring though.

Maybe do a breakfast casserole topped with mushrooms for gray. Or sausage-stuffed portabella mushrooms.

  • i would use the gray with the decor rather than trying to find foods.

    for example:

individual breakfast muffin cups (eggs, cheese, ham, etc) and get gray cupcake liners. (or make your own)

you could do bakerella's "cowgirl cookies" in mason jars as favors and get gray and orange m&m's.

have floral centerpieces with orange flowers and a gray ribbon

    gray napkins/plates with orange silverware
