Ok, So I have a question and am also kind of looking for someone to talk me off of this puppy ledge.
We have a beagle who is currently 7-8 months old. He's just now starting to calm down and I am loving that!!! I had asked about getting him a friend just to relieve my guilt of leaving him home all day and was assured that wasn't necessary because he probably sleeps all day anyway.
Now I've made the mistake of looking on the shelter's website and have found the ABSOLUTE CUTEST labrador retriever/basset hound mix. He's about 2 months old. My first question is about how large would this type of dog get? My other question, how would this affect my beagle? Is it a bad idea to get another puppy while he is still so young?
Feel free to also convince me that I don't need 2 dogs and that hopefully someone else will save this baby since he is so adorable.......
Re: I need to stay away from the shelter's website.......
Pongo was 9 months old whenever we got Nala, and at first he didn't know what to think, mostly b/c she was too young. But he really warmed up to her and is almost like a father to her the way he watches after her. I think it helped both of them to have someone, they always have someone to play with. For us having two dogs is easier than having one, and I think it's a good age.
Sorry I probably didn't help, I sit on shelter sites way too much too.
