Why is it that I can't make a wrap to save my life

I would eat a wrap every day if I knew how to do it...do restaurants have some special machince. Are there some secrets that may help me?

Re: Why is it that I can't make a wrap to save my life

  • I feel like I need to google this and watch a youtube video. I can't do wraps either and when I see people making them on TV they make it look so easy.
  • Practice.  I could never do it until I spent a lot of time helping the sandwich person when I worked in a kitchen.  Now, if I over-think it, I screw it up, but if I just let my hands do it, it's fine.
  • The usual problem is over filling them. Once I cut back on the filling, I was able to make them work.
  • Do you keep your tortilla's in the fridge?  If so, let it come to room temp or a little warmer before trying to fold it & as pp said, don't overfill it.

I've actually gotten a lot better with making wraps, so I'm sure practice is a big part of it.  But also, as PPs have mentioned, don't overfill!  And don't put your "filling" in the middle of the wrap or tortilla, you want it to be closer to your end of the tortilla.  Lastly, make sure you leave room on the right and left sides so you can fold that in towards the center before you roll away from you.

     Hope that made sense.

  • Microwave them for like 15 seconds before you proceed.  It'll be much easier to deal with.
