almond and/or other moms...skim milk?
What did Dr. G tell you in regards to WCM?
The sub Dr yesterday told DH that we can go ahead and switch to skim milk since she's so big for her age...that seemed really really odd to me.
C is big for her age(15 months) but proportionate at 29 lbs(99%) and 32 inches(92%).
Dr. G had my nephew switch to 2% around 2 years
I'm sticking with WCM right now until we see Dr. G again.
Other moms..what has your Doc said about switching to a lower % milk. Everything I'm reading so far is saying 2 unless you have a history of high cholesterol or obesity.
Re: almond and/or other moms...skim milk?
This isn't something I have even thought to ask and it hasn't been brought up to me by DD's pedi. She is 18 months, 25 lbs and 34" tall, and most of what she likes to eat, with the exception of peanut butter and cheese, is really low calorie/fat so I am all about keeping her on WCM.
Whenever we do make the switch, which I don't see as necessary in the foreseeable future, I can't see us going all the way to skim. Probably 2%.
We don't see Dr. G anymore but we did get the same advice before C turned 2. I had a problem with it since we got conflicting advice from another doc because of his speech delay. So we stuck with WCM until he was 2 and now he is on 2%.
He is also not a huge eater so that factored into my decision as well.
Our pedi said that there isn't much difference in fat content in whole & 2% milk, but he was fine with either.
You know DS is big for his age! The daycare gave 2% when he moved into the 1yo class, so we let him have 2% at school and gave whole at home until he turned 2. Now he's on all 2%.
