Help me figure out where to go for a night out!

So my DH and I are pretty socially dumb:) But we want to plan a night out after I reach my next weight loss goal, which is about 3 lbs or so away. I want to do something nicer than dinner and a movie, and found this dress for only $12 so I had to buy it, but now I have no idea where we could go/what we could do that would let me where it. Any ideas? Would a dinner cruise type thing be ok, or would this be too dressy for it? We live in Ashburn, going into DC, Alexandria, etc is fine with us. Not sure about a dollar amount, we haven't really discussed that yet. I would guess my DH would want do to $200 or less (preferably less) for the night. Thanks for any help!

Re: Help me figure out where to go for a night out!

  • Would you consider going to the National Harbor? Bobby McKey's, a piano bar, is a lot of fun. You might be a touch overdressed there though, but who cares?! You're rocking a new hot bod. A comedy club might be another option.
  • Congratulations!  That is so exciting.  Maybe a night out at the Kennedy Center (dinner before hand).  The Gaylord (National Harbor) has a VIP lounge on the 16th floor with amazing views of the river.

ETA: I've only ever done the dinner cruise on teh Dandy out of Old Town, but I was not a fan at all.  Very dingy.

Ditto this - I think anything at the Kennedy Center with a nice romantic dinner would be great!  Dh and I have done 2 of the dinner cruises and both times we've been bored and found them to be a waste of money.

  • No suggestions, but applauding your soon-to-be goal-hitting, and loving that dress! Enjoy and rock it, woman!

  • congrats. i've done the spirit dinner cruise and that would be fine for it. i want to do the oddeysey but haven't had a chance.

i also suggest the kennedy center. in may they are having the big bad voody daddies playing with the NS. Couple that with a nice dinner.

Or I love the national harbor idea

  • What about drinks at the W Hotel rooftop bar followed by dinner out in the city?

  • Thanks everyone for your ideas and compliments! Both are appreciated:)
  • For an Alexandria focused evening, you could do drinks at dinner at a nice restaurant and then drinks at PX.  If it's nice out, I love walking by the waterfront.
