I can't go into too much detail, but today is one of those days that I want to quit education altogether and go work at Starbucks.
If you have children, pleeeease just be nice to their teachers - even if you don't necessarily like them. Before you start ranting and raving, please try to understand that almost every teacher on the planet has your child's best interests at heart. Please try to engage in meaningful dialogue about concerns. Please respect the chain of command. Please please please try to see the world that exists beyond just you and just your child.
Please remember that teachers are people, too.

Re: you guys, I hate my job
Oy. How timely - I just got an email from W's teacher that he has lied twice today. He's one "card" shy from getting sent to the office.
I'm sorry if you got inappropriately lambasted by a parent. Thank you so much for all you do, in spite of us psychotic parental units, to make these little people into functional adults.

Big hugs Tru... I can't believe some of the stories I've heard. It was so different when I was a kid in school.

I don't know how you do it. I've been helping a group of 4 sixth grade boys work on a project and I was SO sick of all of them - including my own - by the time we were done. It made me want to sneak vodka in for all their teachers. I'm sure they want a drink by 3pm.
I'm sorry for crappy parents too. They should realize that kids are 1) not always angels and 2) sometimes need hard lessons to grow up correctly.

Big hugs. You should be commended for all you do. You DO make a difference in the lives of many kids and as they become adults they will take with them the lessons you give them (even if their parents aren't so great).
Growing up with two public school teacher parents, I totally understand and really appreciate what you (and our kids' teachers) do everyday. I can remember many nights where my dad or mom was on the phone with an irrate parent only to pull out their gradebook (old school, I know) and prove that the child was incorrect in their view of the situation. My dad is a high school math teacher and his honors' students' parents were/are the worst in thinking their kid did no wrong and deserved so much more.
I really hope things get sorted out.
Are you united with the CCOKCs?
This is so ironic, because I have been thinking the exact.same.thing the past couple weeks and it is coming to a head. I actually posted just now before I read through yours.
This time of the school year is so intense, and the mentality of so many parents these days is absurd. I hope things get better and you can find those little moments that make it more worth it.
Wanna switch for a week? : )
I know it is hard not to take it personally, but you are doing a great job and making an impact on so many different people. I know there aren't always accolades waiting, so just know that you are totally kick assz. Try not to let some dumbazs parent take you down. People suck sometimes.

I'm sure your students adore you; I'm sorry their parents have to be such losers.
Big {hugs}, girl! We love you and your pretty brain!
