I know everyone is going-ape-*** for this show, but I need input since it's in my very full Hulu queue.  I love that period, so I have a feeling I'll love it - I just want to hear all of you smart ladies tell me what you like about it.

If you like that period, you will love it. Amazing period details, filmed in an actual manor house (on the DVDs, they interview the countess who owns it now. Craziness). Well done, especially season 1. They do a great job of really developing all the characters and you really care about (or hate) them. Second season gets a little over the top, but by then you are so invested in everyone you don't care :-) And Maggie Smith has the BEST lines. "What is a weekend?"

I love it!! I watched season 1 on Hulu and am now watching season 2 on PBS online. Like pp said, I really really love some characters and really really hate others, and there are some that I both love and hate. I'm hoping to get through season 2 this weekend.

It is just a really good story line - period piece or not - and SO easy to get sucked in.

I tried, honestly... and couldn't get into it. It felt like Days of our Lives set in the early 20th century. After all the craziness about it, I think was expecting Ang Lee or Merchant Ivory or something.
