Thoughts on Spray Tans...
I just bought two mystic tans from tanfastic as a groupon ($19!). I have had these before and honestly, I like the way it looks (mostly because I'm ghostly white otherwise). I figure that it will be great for me to get before the cruise, so I'm not blinding people while I'm hanging around in my bathing suit...
Has anyone ever done these before? Do you like the tans?

Re: Thoughts on Spray Tans...
Never done spray tan before, but I should - I am a pasty white lady. I get downright ghostlike in the winter.
I like a subtle tan, obviously the dark brown leathery look not so much.
Yeah, I definitely stick with the lightest tan they can give me. Sometimes I go with the middle level (which is probably what I will do for the cruise). I would look ridiculous with a true "tan". But I figure anything is better than blinding the other guests on the boat... Plus, I would like to look like I have a healthy glow in pictures...
If you're interested, the groupon in Ann Arbor today is for the mystic tan... It's pretty easy to do and it usually lasts for 5-7 days...

Maybe I look like this?????
And do my makeup like this??????
Oh dear... hahahahah
hahahah, well that is terrifying!
Here are two pics of me, one without a spray tan, one with...

So it's not too drastic... but hopefully I don't look too orange in the second picture... What do you think? Should I get the spray tan before going on my cruise?

I think you look great in the picture Maggie!!
I've done it once before and the results were terrifying. I think I've told you all that story. I'm 100% sure I jacked it up myself though by not following the instructions properly.

That's what I was thinking.
Yeah, I don't mess with that stuff... I follow the directions to the T. I have them give me the run down every time I go get it done. I have messed it up before and ended up with spots all over... Not cool...

Funny Story:
Once I had a spray tan done for my birthday party. I was wearing a white denim skirt. I managed to spill something on my skirt while out to dinner. I decided that it would be a good idea to use a tide-to-go pen on my skirt to get the stain out... Apparently if you use the tide to go pen on a white skirt, on top of a spray tanned leg, the pen will also take out the tan. I managed to pull spray tan up through my white skirt, staining it even worse that the food stain. AND then I had a crazy white spot on my leg, where the pen had removed the tan pigment... I had to stop at a friends house and do laundry. I hung out for an hour and a half in my friends basketball shorts... I bleached my skirt and threw it in the dryer... It was pretty embarassing, but my skirt did bleach out clean, and my skirt hid the giant white spot on my leg...
Moral of the story: Tide-to-go pens and spray tans don't mix!

Haha duly noted! Funny story.
Oh my God! I just about peed my pants laughing at the two pictures you posted...
LoL.... that's terrible. I can only imagine what you must have thought when you saw this terrible situation unfolding.
That would definitely be a new...umm...(gulp).... look for you.
I really want to try it, but I've always been too afraid. I'm seriously thinking about having one done before we go to FL in April. They airbrush it on at my salon. My concern is the smell. When my esthetician did it to herself, she looked good but I could smell it on her hands when she gave me a facial. She said she had done it a couple days before. I didn't smell it before her hands were on my face, but it still made me paranoid of the smell.
Yeah, it definitely has a unique smell. Usually it goes away with in a day or two though. At least it has in my case. I think if you used a nice scented lotion, it would cover the smell just fine.

Getting back to it- my diet and exercise blog
Losing it...Without Losing it
I agree with this too! I usually get the spray tan in the evening, then put on long sleeve pants and t-shirt to wear to bed. Sleep on it and then shower in the morning. It definitely looks a lot better after you shower... A lot of pigment comes off in the first shower...

I have never personally had one done! I would like to try- but I have had several friends get them done- and they do come off on your clothes when you sweat. So just stay away from white if possible. I think you should try a trial before you sail ( if you have time)- if you like it- then get one done before the cruise
That's exactly what I'm going to do!!! Since I got two (and honestly, I have no reason to spray tan after I get back from the cruise) I figured I would use them both before the cruise. Today I'm going to get a really light coat, just to remind myself how the whole process works and get a thin base coat. Then next Thursday I will go back and get it done for real!
