Do you have any "tricks" to stop overeating?
I sit at a desk most of the day & find I am constantly eating. i think it is mostly out of boredom, but i just cannot stop. if i just don't bring the food to work, then i am obsessing about what i want to eat.
do you chew gum, drink x amount of water per day, etc?
any ideas you have would be appreciated. thanks!!
Re: Do you have any "tricks" to stop overeating?
I drink a lot of water. divide my weight in 2 and that's how many ounces of water I aim for. I sort of give myself a schedule. 34 ounces before breakfast. 34 ounces before lunch. I do snack a lot but it's mostly veggies or fruit.
I drink water before I take a bite of food. Helps eat less and sometimes I'm thirsty and not really hungry.
I also chew gum.
I think you need to portion out your food bring snacks/meals make everything be healthy and portion controlled so you can have a string cheese or a handful of almonds as a snack but at least they are healthy foods.
I also gave up eating a couple of my sweet snacks/drinks and I found the first couple weeks were the hardest once I got used to the new habits I didn't crave the old ones as much.
Eat slower, so you can feel full before you overeat. drinking tea, or soemthing warm, helps too.
i have a hard time with portion control, so i run long distances to balance it out lol
Just wanted to say I have the same problem. I sit at my desk all day and eat out of boredom even when I am busy.
I recently stated sucking lollipops, it tends to stop me from eating something that has more calories and I chew gum. Sometimes eating something that is more filling like chobani yogart or eating a bigger breakfast helps. Fruit does nothing for me, I still feel hungry after eating it.
Drink water.
Only bring healthy snacks. Don't give yourself the option of eating unhealthy food.
Eat slowly. If I'm alone I'll eat while looking at Facebook, email or the boards on my phone or computer. Having to use my hands to scroll through pages or types keeps me from eating quickly. This has been the biggest help for me because it forces me to let my brain register fullness.
Portion things out.
wow - thanks for all of the great ideas!!!
haha i am doing that right now! it does work!
