A couple of years ago my mom gave me a jacket from Chico's. I actually really like it - it's a slightly metallic twill with black and burgundy beading and embroidery, but it's very subtle and looks nice with black pants, which is what I am wearing today. It is much less middle-aged than most Chico's clothing, I swear.
Today my coworker, who is about 8 years older than me and my CEO, who is 10 years older than me, are both wearing Chico's jackets that have the same burgundy color as the embroidery on mine. They are very excited that we all coordinate.
They both dress very nicely, but this is confirmation that I have moved into a different demographic.
Re: Sigh. I am back to frumpy.
If you like the way you look when you leave the house, don't stress yourself out by comparing yourself to what others are wearing (or not wearing) - who knows - maybe your CEO and coworker are congratulating themselves on looking so young and hip today?
People older than me routinely dress more stylish than I do. I gave up trying to be stylish in 6th grade when I tried to get on that plaid-ties-on-females look. I did not succeed & have happily played it safe since!
Are their jackets frumpy? Or do they look nice?
