Moby vs ring sling for travel?

SO we leave tomorrow for tampa and its my first flight with the baby.  I didn't get a seat for Dante, I was planning to wear him. My plan is to nurse him during takeoff, pray that he sleeps during the flight and then nurse during landing.
I have a Moby and a ring sling. I'm not sure which to wear on the plane. I will bring both with me since the ring sling i got is s light fabric. I know he will sleep in the moby, we've done it before, but he won't nurse in there. I'm trying to figure out what will be easiest - to wear the moby with a low cut shirt so i can just pull it down and loosen the moby to nurse or try the ring sling which I'm not quite as good at as i just got it.
He will also sleep on our chests wrapped in a blanket, so i can always ditch the wrap for the flight and just nurse him at take off and let him sleep on my chest. that way i can pass him to my husband if need be i guess. But i still need to wear him moving around the airport in newark and tampa.
I know I'm over thinking this, but any advice would be appreciated!! He is 4 months old!
Oh and Did I mention I hate to fly and normally take xanax before i fly but can't because I am nursing.  yeah so I'm a little nervous as it is!

Re: Moby vs ring sling for travel?

  • Personally I would wear my Bjorn through the airport and then just take it off when I got on the plane. Everyone is different though. The Moby just never worked for us, either she hated it or I couldn't get it right... I just sold mine on ebay. LOL.

  • I've never nursed wearing my Moby but, I have nursed with the ring sling.  It's super easy.  I actually wore him in the ring sling while walking a 5k and nursed him part of the way.

If you're going to be sitting I might want to go with the Moby though.  I don't think I've sat with the ring sling on but, I have sat with him sleeping in the Moby.

It's so hard, I'd probably bring them both, but start off with the Moby.  Unless you're going to be passing the baby back and forth while youre in the airport in which case, I'd use the ring sling until I got to the gate and then prepared the Moby.

    I'm no help lol

  • I'm not coordinated enough for a ring sling (LOVED by Moby) but since you are, I'd take that on the plane. Seems more convenient in this situation.

  • I would use the moby if you are more comfortable with it in general. I liked the ring sling a lot, but used it more when Finn was a little bigger.

This post makes me miss babywearing!
