we hardly use it but it automatically charges our credit card $25 to replenish when it goes below whatever threshold.
it's just been upped to $45.
dh and i were just talking the other night how suddenly everything jumped in price. we never even considered easy pass!
Re: wtf easy pass?!
Is it because of how much you use it? I just signed up for EZ Pass last month and have the $25 replenishment amount, but I got nervous when you posted this so I looked through the terms and found this:
Replenishment: Periodically, your toll use will be reviewed. If your monthly activity is above or below your current monthly payment, your minimum monthly debit/credit card, cash or check payment will be adjusted accordingly and you will be notified on your next scheduled statement.
Could that be what happened to you? As far as I know, my replenishment amount hasn't increased.
we don't need it all during the week - no toll roads on our commute
most weekends we don't use it either.
i'll email dh to log in to the account and check the use. it should be pretty sporadic.
that's what dh thinks. if they keep it at $25, they will need to charge your card every single time you use it - or just about.
I was able to call &have it lowered again as "a one time courtesy". So, it might be worth a call.
FWIW, after several months, if you're not using up their determined replenishment amount, it *should* lower again automatically. That happened to me, too.
eta- even if it stays at $45, you will be charged less frequently, if you really are not using it that much, so really it kind of evens out overall.
turns out we used it 3x this past month- and that's a lot for us. to the airport and home and once to my cousin.
No, they have always done this. They take $80 a pop from me and since I use it 5 days a week and tolls went up I am sure it will go higher.
