Would you board your dog here? LIP

We've only left her at a cage-free place, but it's a LOT more $$$ than this place (a friend recommended it here).

WDYT?

Re: Would you board your dog here? LIP

  • I only board at cage free places - specifically ones that have supervised daycare and also have someone on site 24/7.. It looks like you have to pay the boarding fee, plus walk fees, plus playtime fees?  after you add all those up for the day, is it that much cheaper than a cage free place where they play ALL day?

  • It would be $185 vs. $250

  • If the cage free place meant daycare play time during the day with other dogs/people, I'd pay more for the cage free place.

However, I also have a dog that has seperation anxiety and doesn't like to be left alone so the $65 difference would be worth it to me.  Just means I wouldn't go out to eat like 2 other times. :)

I would worry about my dog if he was in a cage/kennel most of the time.  We just returned from a trip where we had to board our dog for 13 nights of our trip and while it was quite a bit of money, the peace of knowing he had lots of friends to paly with and people there 24/7 made it worth it.

  • I would, because my dog does not do well in cage-free play areas with strange dogs. He is very anxious and has some fear aggression issues around strange dogs, and would be more comfortable confined in his own space. My dog is used to being confined for part of the day already, he stays in our laundry room while we're at work. He's also a senior and has a pretty low energy level.

If your dog is a high-energy dog that needs lots of exercise or one that is not used to being confined, paying the extra money for the cage-free place might be worth it.

  • Thanks, everyone.

My gut tells me that she would hate it, as she loooooves human interaction. So I think I'll email the more $$ place and see if they have space available.

  • I live near those kennels and have friends who will only take their dogs to Deer Park.  I personally use Reisterstown Boarding Kennel, have been using them for 8 years.  Check out their website - my dogs LOVE this place.
